The roads of this ride are not always first class. Reduced visibility and hair spin bends along the crossing of the Kasierstuhl.
Summary: 203 km 4h

From Oberharmersbach towards the Harmersbachtal to admire the beauty of the landscapes the Black Forest has to offer. We pass by Bad Peterstal and Wolfach, via the Prechtal towards Elzach.
Before Waldkirch we leave the « Elztal-Highway » for more pleasant roads towards Tennenbach passing in front of the ancient convent ruines (1161), go then to the left for Emmendingen. On the hillside is the Eichberturm (Oak tower) set up. Its base rests on 6 Douglas stumps and raises up to 60 metres (197 ft). The watchplatform is at 43 metres (141 ft) above the ground and offers a panoramic view of the Rhine valley, Freiburg and the Kaiserstuhl, our next stop over. From Bahlingen towards the Kaiserstuhl, mount of volcanic origin but also a vineyards region, it spreads on a length of 16 km (9,88 Miles) from Ihringen to Michaelsberg, and present 12,5 km (7,72 Miles) at its widest between the Totenkopf (558 m – 1831 ft) and Neunlinden (555 m – 1821 ft). Three little towns and 18 villages with names well known to the wine connaisseurs populate the Kaiserstuhl. At Oberbergen turn right to follow the Texaspass towards Königschaffhausen and then by Leiselheim, Bischoffingen, Vogtsburg, Bickensohl and Achkarren towards Breisach near the Rhine. Finally a well deserved lunch pause.
Let's resume by Ihringen towards Bötzingen via Bahlingen and Riegel to Malterdingen. Now the Rhin valley is in our back and the Black Forest opens its arms to us. The road leads near Kirnburg then via the Bleichtel towards Schweighausen, Welschensteinach and Steinach and finally the return through the Harmersbachtal to Oberharmesbach.

Before going to the hotel, a coffee pause at the NILLHOF (Höhengasthaus Nillhof) for coffee and Black Forest cake bake on site for the price of 6 EUR coffee + cake (Special price for our friendly bikers).
