A well balanced tour with beautiful viewpoints and gentle road twists.
Summary: 258 km 5h 20'

From Oberharmersbach through Biberach, Hornberg towards Triberg, the place of the tallest waterfall of Germany. It falls 163 metres (535 ft) in seven stages. The path goes through Furtwangen, Neukirch and the Hexenloch (witches hole) for a pause at the (.... mill). The Hexenlochmühle mill was built in 1825 and, since 1839, remains a family business (4th generation). The water of the Heubach (+/- 300 l/s – 79 gal/s moves a water wheel). The tallest wheel (4 m - 13 ft diametre and 13 hp) powers a tower and a circular saw. Let's head for the nicest lake of the Black Forest, the Titisee, then the highest mountain of the region , the Feldberg (1492 m – 4895 ft), towards Todnau. From there, the uphill ride of the Schauinsland (glance in the valley 1284 m – 4212 ft) near by Freiburg. Between 1927 and 1984, many Europe's mountain rides cup took place on this 11,2 km (6,9 Miles) uphill and its 172 bends. Since, the road has been forbidden to motorcycles during weekends. Through a narrow road and the beautiful landscape of Münstertal we pass in front of the Kloster St. Trudpert (According to the legend, this saint, probably an Irish-Scottish missionary, had established his hermitage at this place around the year 604. He was soon murdered hit by an ax. As soon as the year 800 the first monastery of the Rhine right bank was erected on his tomb). Then via Staufen direction Freiburg, the road passes after by Stegen and St. Peter, the Kandel (1242 m – 4075 ft) another viewpoint on the Black Forest. A few short bends further Waldkirch then Sexau in front of the Hochburg ruines towards Freiamt. The fort is the largest ruine in the Baden Oberland. In the 11th century, the first castle was probably established by Dietrich Hachberg of the Nimburg counts house. In 1127 a first mention of it in a statement of bishop Uldarich von Konstanz-Allodium from Hahberg. Via Freiamt, the Schuttertal, Seelbach, Biberach, return to Oberharmersbach.

Before going to the hotel, a coffee pause at the NILLHOF (Höhengasthaus Nillhof) for coffee and Black Forest cake bake on site for the price of 6 EUR coffee + cake (Special price for our friendly bikers).
