As soon have we left Luzern, the Swiss highways lead us to the German border. The Rhine valley until Waldshut does not display anything exceptionnal apart from a line of villages, businesses and industrial zones. Then, suddenly, the « Bundesstrasse » B500 starts with a nice ascent through the Black Forest. One can follow it for about 190 km alternating with the B31 and B33. Never steep ascents but mostly nice and wide generous roads with perfectly drawn curves. Some water dams like the « Schluchsee » adorn the sight along the way. The « Schwarzwald Hochstrasse » completes the itinerary for the last 45 kilometers. To reach at the centre of Baden-Baden, better NOT take the tunnel passing under the town, rather wandering the peaceful streets of this quiet water town. Who shal complain about a bit of quietness and rest after so many bends handled with concentration ?
