From the lodge Gîte de France #18, a pleasant base location, annex of a prominant mansion with swimming pool, this route leads you through a scenic route along the Chemin-des-Dames trenches, significant battle place of the Great War. Sometime overwhelmed by the landscapes spreading on each side of the ridge, or by the dazzling number of crosses alignments, you will choose to ride the route in one or the other direction depending on the time of the day, as the major West-East (or East-West) section will give a different light. Even if the route is only 78 km long, allow extensive time for commemoration, visits along the Chemin-des-Dames monuments, visit to the small remarkable churches of the area and the little country town of Laon built in Champagne limestones.
